Frock the Vote
By: Tony Soto
The show starts with an overly confident Phi Phi celebrating the disqualification of Willam. She has to know if things were different it would have been all the girls celebrating her highly anticipated exit. Phi Phi has one thing going for her, she’s good T.V. and that is it. This episode highlights her lack of creativity and poor comedic timing. During the challenge the girls are running for President, Ms. O’Hara channeling her “best” Sarah Palin refer to the two black girls as “The Help.” Needless to say it didn’t set well with Dida, Latrice, and some of the judges. Michelle Visage told her simply, “in order to land an off-color joke, it has to be funny. And that joke came across as offensive.” Phi Phi’s response to all the criticism about her “joke”? While in the Interior Illusions Lounge she simply said, “get over it.”
Now I am a fan of off-colored humor, I kind of excel in it. However, Michelle is right. The joke wasn’t funny, not even by asshole standards. Not sure how Phi Phi is still on the show, but I digress.
The sad, but understandable thing, and mind you this is a spoiler alert, “the help” are the ones who have to lipsync for their lives. You’ll have to watch to see who wins.
And in typical RuPaul fashion, we get a twist at the end! Ru’s bringing back one of her girls. So we are still at 5 queens, but who is coming back? My fingers are crossed for Willam of course!
My current top 3: Chad Michaels, Latrice Royale, and Sharon Needles. Ms. Needles for the win!
