Wonka Ball 2012: YOUR PROM The Remix

It’s time to get out your prom attire and show some love for About Face Theatre . For most of us prom was a awkward and closeted moment in our life. So why not relieve those moments in a safe space that celebrates all things LGBTQ.

Relive prom on your own terms! Enjoy an open bar and decadent desserts, experience special performances from the About Face community (including local reality tv star DiDa Ritz), be tempted by our silent and live auction items, take prom photos, and celebrate the crowning of a prom king and queen! Get out those dancing shoes, get in the limo, and celebrate prom your way!

AFT’s premier fundraising event will be held Friday March 30th at The Chicago Illuminating Company, 19 East 21st Street, Chicago, IL at 8:00 pm with a VIP reception at 7:00 pm. Tickets are currently available at http://www.aboutfacetheatre.com or 773-784-8565.

WONKA will also include the presentation of the Leppen Leadership Awards. Named for About Face Youth Theatre supporter Michael Leppen, the annual honor recognizes those whose efforts on behalf of About Face Theatre and the LGBTQA community, empower youth leaders to take action and encourage LGBTQA adults and youth to create intergenerational dialogue and understanding.

Proceeds from the WONKA BALL support About Face Theatre programming including its ground breaking Youth Theatre, which creates critically acclaimed new work by and about LGBTQ youth and their allies. The Youth Theatre has performed on major stages across the country, and, through its outreach tour, changes the lives of thousands of young people each year. AFT also boasts its annual, award-winning main stage season and the ambitious XYZ Festival of New Works.
