Jazz, transgender at 11, and an inspiration to the LGBTQ community

For anyone who can use a little inspiration today, Jazz, and amazing little girl is featured on 20/20 with Barbara Walters. Her story is remarkable and inspiring. The voices of todays youth must be heard, so we as adults can help them live their true lives!

  1. David says:

    This is beautiful.
As a heterosexual, male-identified, cisgendered indivdual, I am wholeheartedly in support of Jazz. She is a beautiful young lady.
I am trying to imagine my own daughter (or any young woman) going through such a socially disruptive adolescence, and I can only hope that she accepts it with such grace.
Jazz is also blessed to have her family. One dreams of having, or creating, that singular family who would unite behind you in such a time of diversity. She personifies a battle that could potentially rewrite our notion of individualality and I for one stand with her.

Jazz, sweetheart, do everything you can to be who you want to be. To everyone who might curse you, or spit on you, or hurt you, tell them to go to hell because that is where they belong. If you ever get discouraged, please remember that for every single person who thinks that they hate you there are just as many who love you for who you are. Good luck over the coming years, you are in for a whirlwind. As one adult to one soon-to-be: your next few years, as challenging and difficult as they might be, will make you into the woman you are meant to be.
